Information for researchers

The collections of the Rev. Jozef Jarzębowski Museum in Licheń Stary number several thousand exhibits. The collection includes items from various historical eras.

The oldest are archaeological finds, and there are few of them, as the museum does not specialize in collecting such objects.

The main part of the collection consists of relics from the 15th to the 19th and 20th centuries. Many artifacts came to the museum as donations, but most were acquired by Father Jozef Jarzębowski. Purchases were often made in cooperation with such prominent collectors and art lovers as Count Emeryk Hutten-Czapski, Leon Drogoslaw Truszkowski, Colonel Tadeusz Rudnicki, Stanislaw Meyer, Ludwik Gocel, Michal Pawlikowski, Wieslaw Bulikowski and Dr. Kilian.

The museum's collections are divided into seventeen thematic sections:
Archives (manuscripts, ephemeral prints)
Library
Photography

Philately
Graphics

Cartography
Painting
Medallions
Militaria
Numismatics
Drawing techniques
Sculpture
Glass and ceramics

Antiquity and archaeology
Fabrics
Goldsmithing

The collection is made available to the public through permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions. In addition, for research purposes, it is possible to study the objects stored in the museum's warehouses.
