"Forgotten General" exhibition

The exhibition, was open to the public in 2014.

The exposition was a search for an answer to the question - Who was General Jozef Haller?
Haller, who belongs to the generation born in the second half of the 19th century, never stopped being a patriot. His father fought in the January Uprising. There was an atmosphere of piety and patriotism at home. As a child, Joseph often took part in pilgrimages to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska.

From 1911, he was active in the nascent scouting movement and the "Falcon" Gymnastic Society
During World War I, Haller was commander of the Second Brigade of the Legions. He was later appointed commander of the so-called "Blue Army" formed in France, at the head of which he took over Gdansk Pomerania on behalf of Poland in 1920.
During the Battle of Warsaw, Haller simultaneously held various positions. He was general inspector of the Volunteer Army and, from late July, commander of the Northeastern Front. The Northern Front commanded by Haller was among the most endangered due to the Bolsheviks' drive to capture Warsaw. The battle for Warsaw began on Gen. Jozef Haller's birthday, August 13.
From 1920 to 1927 Haller was a member of the Sejm. After the May Coup of 1926, he was retired.

He was a co-founder of the Labor Party, which was established in 1937. Minister of Education in the government of Władysław Sikorski in 1940-1943.
He died in exile in London on June 4, 1960.
Among the artifacts on display at this exhibition were a wedding ring from the nuptials with the sea, belonging to the "Blue

General," a uniform, photographs, manuscripts, a prayer book, medals and decorations he received during his military career, as well as cufflinks made from buttons from the kontusz of Cesare, the general's brother.
The general was friends with the creator of the museum, Fr. Joseph Jarzębowski, MIC, and their personal correspondence was on display.
From this assemblage of personal items emerges the silhouette of General Jozef Haller - not only a brave soldier, but also a caring husband and father, a deeply religious Pole and dedicated to service to the fatherland. The story of the Blue General is enriched with a multimedia presentation and archival recordings in which the general talks about the Blue Army.
