"Poland is the future"
100th anniversary of independence
The exhibition was open to the public from April 2018 to December 2019.
The year 2018 was marked by the centennial of Poland's regaining of independence, and the celebration culminated on November 11. President Andrzej Duda noted in his speech: "I would like the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of regaining independence to be held not only in the big cities, not only in Warsaw, not only in the parliament, not only in Marshal Jozef Pilsudski Square at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but to be held in all Polish cities, towns, villages, wherever we live."
In response to these words, as part of the rich program of celebrations of this special anniversary, the exhibition "Poland is the Future" was created in our museum. Its purpose was to seek answers to the questions: "Can a nation exist without a Homeland?" and "Why did persecution by the partitioners not destroy the spirit of Polishness in our ancestors?"
The exhibition was divided into several sections, in which we presented various forms of resistance to Russification and Germanization. Among the topics covered were the activities of Poles in exile, national education, and concern for the memory of national heroes. A special place was given to the role of women, who guarded the Polish tradition and raised younger generations in the spirit of patriotism.
The exhibits were accompanied by a slide show that brought the realities of life in the 19th century closer, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by Poles during the partition period.
